Definitely kept me guessing up until the very end! Successful first Riley Sager book and I was not disappointed! Riley's writing style was absolutely perfect for a gooey thriller such as this. IT felt like I was truly watching a movie. He did a great job of giving descriptive without outright telling you everything you needed to know. You had to piece it all together. And just because you know something in the beginning, doesn't mean it's exactly as it seems...

Definitely my least favorite of his books.

Things I did like:
•I like the fact that I never know where the book is going to go because Sager leaves the reader questioning everyone.
•I like that there were multiple “main characters”.

Things I didn’t like:
•This one was much darker than the other ones I’ve read—it made my stomach flip flop. I’m learning I don’t like gory books at all.
•The characters aren’t that deep. This was definitely different than previous reads of Sager’s because the main character couldn’t remember what most of the book was based around—which leaves mystery, but also a disconnect for me from the main character.
•Mention of an affair, dependence on meds, heavy alcohol consumption & sexual assault.
•The way Quincy rushes into dangerous situations and how willing she is to go along with whatever, even though it can lead to serious trouble.

SpoilerI am thoroughly disappointed in the outcome. The fact that Coop had some weird fascination with Quincy that led him to kill everyone but her…? And then to kill the other final girls after having sex with them? Don’t love that at all.

I also don’t understand why Sam provoked Quincy to that midnight park situation where Quincy nearly beats a man to death. Just to have something against her? I just feel like there were aspects here that were sooo careless/not thought through by the characters.

i would’ve given the a five star rating if it hadn’t been for the painfully slow beginning and the unbelievably perfect ending. i think it was just how mundane the first half of the book was, but when the plot actually picked up, everything happened so fast. the ending was also just really perfect. everything, and i mean everything, gets resolved. i also found it really weird how after quincy gets her memory back, we don’t get anything else about her mourning her friends? you’d think after having to relive watching her friends be slaughtered in front of her, there’d at least be something about her accepting what happened to everyone. i just found it kinda disappointing how quickly quincy moves on from everyone’s deaths, how there’s nothing else about the friend group. i wish we got to see more of the friend group, more about rodney, amy and betz.

This book was definitely interesting! Quincy seems at first to be a flat and uninteresting traumatized woman, but eventually evolves into something much more. The inner turmoil she displays at not only her current actions and choices but reflections of her past as well develop her into a multi dimensional character worth reading to the end for. Speaking of which, the ending was both as expected and sooo very unexpected! The last third of the book had me on the edge of my seat! My qualms with this book lie with the stereotypical and expected things. Like the boyfriend and other final girls. Even the twist was somewhat expected. I just wasn't as surprised as I like to be with these books.
