On the border of 4 stars. Greg Pak knows the hulk inside and out. For a sort of one dimensional character he adds layers to him. Plus theirs tons of smashing and destruction which is fun. However there is a flaw in the book and it comes down to Thunderbolt Ross who just shows up out of know where. One of Hulk's earliest villains and I believe social/psychological sense between the two. Here it's more about smashing then talking which doesn't really play out well. Also my biggest complaint is the artist Romita Jr. His style only works for certain characters and I don't think it works here. Still a fun read and anyone who loves hulk should pick this up.

It may come as a shocker, but I need more than angst and continuous action scenes to find a comic book compelling. The battles were fun, but the dialogue and plot was a bit lack luster.

I loved seeing Hulk and his friends from Sakaar come back to Earth!

The artwork for this series was phenomenal. There were so many action sequences it felt like I was watching a movie.

The Hulk at his worst. Dr. Strange at his most powerful. Iron Man devoid of armor and still ultimately as annoying as his partner, Reed Richards in this semi-soul searching action-adventure quest into the notion of justice, accountability and responsibility. Unfortunately the notions of moral evil are put aside so we can watch Hulk smash and see Sentry overcome his fears. But, it was worth it if you're into entertainment and the visual aspects of comics. Where the writing fails the drawing comes to the rescue. Fun, if not profound.

The Hulk hasn’t been my idea of a hero. The onscreen portrayals by Edward Norton and Mark Ruffalo of Bruce Banner have been very enjoyable in terms of the vulnerability that pushes them over to become the rampaging green monster. A slightly long look at the character makes him seem more of a fulfillment of a naive expectation of what a hero ought to be all about. This is a world where every problem is dealt a swift punch to the face until it’s teeth fall out. World War Hulk to me has been one of the weakest story arcs ever to come out of the Marvel stables. It is all posturing and very little stuff. A lot of smashing and bashing later, there isn’t anything even closely resembling a story to be pointed out.

The timeline is post-Civil War and Captain America is still dead when this story begins. As a prelude, the Illuminati comprising of Dr.Strange, Mr.Fantastic, Black Bolt and Iron Man successfully rid Earth of the menace of the Hulk by blasting him off to space. What follows the galactic travel of the Hulk forms the Planet Hulk storyline and it is Hulk's bloody return that is featured here. Maddened by rage and grief, the Hulk arrives to beat the living daylights out of those who crossed him. Arriving in Manhattan he gives a deadline to all civilians to clear the city after which he plans to wipe the floor with the heroes. What ensues is an all-out battle and the aftermath.

All very interesting except for a few bones of contention :

•The story is called World War Hulk and yet all the action is in New York. Typical to a lot of comics, it is the Americans who save the world in the end. An apt title would have been Hulk Smash : The fall of New York.

•The highlight of the overall story is a brutal showdown of Hulk against all the other heroes and yet most of the brawls are half baked. The much anticipated Iron Man V Hulk part is a damp one and how Hulk beats the Black Bolt is never explained.

•Thor, the nearest contender who can hold his own against the Hulk does not appear even once in the tale.

•Where the fish is Wolverine ?

•Spider-Man is shown on a few panels but he disappears as fast as he is shown and I am not entirely sure if I dreamt him up here.

•It all comes down finally to the Sentry whose reason for joining the fight is never fully explained and the grand finale makes you wonder what all the fuss was about.

There isn’t much to write home about this volume. It is probably Marvel’s homage to WWE’s Royal Rumble !

JUST EPIC WOW!

Hulk returns to earth after the whole Planet Hulk ordeal after he lost his wife and child and he is here for blood and to smash. He targets Black Bolt first and then Iron man and the latter's plans fell and he makes his way through the Illuminati smashing everyone who stands in his way and its epic the way its done plus when the gladiatorial fights starts thats the highlight and shows the brutality of it all and then Dr Strange powered up and all, but it won't put a scratch on him.

Enter their last hope the sentry and when the truth is revealed, its an emotional roller coaster ride, friends fight friends, hulk smashes everything, fall of the warbound with the very existence at stake.

Its an epic story with so much heart and like has so many great action scenes and is just pure adrenaline rush and just shows the Worldbreaker at his full power and teases hints of things to come and the art by Romita maybe the best of his career like just wow.
