Yes, I withheld that last .25.
There are reasons why I am hesitant to give this a full 4.
At first, I thought this was going to be a slow burn. There was tension at the beginning and I thought that it will keep building up. But then they kissed and the whole thing read like insta-lust/love. Confusing, I know.
There were a lot of parts at the middle where I wasn't feeling the romance at all, like everything remained at surface level. When they exchanged their first I love you's, I was not buying it yet. And then right after that came the unnecessary push and pull (at least for me) that frustrated me to no end. If it weren't for that epilogue, my rating would have stayed at 3. It's a good thing I found the epilogue so sweet that I felt like everything finally fell into place. It's just sad that it took that long to happen for me.
Still, this was a good read and yes, I'd still recommend it. I think this is a good read for people who are looking to dip their toes into forbidden/taboo romances but are scared of going all out with the taboo aspect.
Also, I enjoyed this one enough to be interested in more of this author's works. I'm not an avid reader of forbidden/taboo romances myself but I guess this author made it work for me.
