Definitely my favorite of the quad, the rest just get weirder.

Identity is a quick read, the pilot book of a series called Eyes Wide Open. The book is fast faced and based around the premise of the challenges of losing your identity. It was enjoyable but I wasn't left wanting to continue the series.

I have always loved Ted Dekker's books; and this is not an exception.

* Admission into a psychiatric hospital by error.
* And the hospital looks like a cover up for something sinister.

Ted Dekker and psychological thrillers sha; I guess that's why I love his books.⁣

Looking forward to the book 2.

Since this was the first installment of a four-part series, I don't have a whole lot to say about it. It was fairly short and quick-paced, but there was barely any character development to be seen. The descriptions, however, are well-drawn and it's obviously a Dekker novel. I'm curious to see where he takes this next...

The biggest issue I had with the novel, though, that merited it getting as low a score as it did from me, was the fact that he is portraying a psychiatric ward of a hospital as being a creepy, scary, horrible place where torture takes place. While this was the case not many decades ago (psychiatric care has changed so drastically in the past 40 or 50 years), it is not the case now, and I worry that Dekker's portrayal of one being so terrible might dissuade people who actually need the help a psych ward can offer from getting the help that they need, were they to read this "episode" (or book, since I am afraid that the rest of the series is going to be like this too).

That being said, a psych ward is almost a classic place to set a tale of terror, and Dekker is playing his cards well thus far.

I don't know where this story is going and I don't know if I like it but I love Ted Dekker's stories and am willing to put myself in his capable hands.

Wow! This book sucked me in and wouldn't let me go. Identity started with a killer hook. The protagonist is trapped underground with no way out. Death is inevitable. Things go downhill from there.

This novella is the pilot episode in a series of four that will make up a 'season'. Ted Dekker has drawn on his favourite TV dramas to create a thrilling episodic story.

The set of circumstances that lead the the two main characters ending up in a world of trouble are unlikely yet completely believable. In lesser hands the implementation might not have worked by Dekker shows clearly with this book why he is one of the best.

This is a short snappy read that gets the adrenaline pumping. The characters are developed deeply and quickly so that you really feel or them when the unthinkable happens.

Identity is must-read fiction.

Pretty Good.

SPOILER!! Book 1 was pretty good, especially for Christian fiction. It's a little drawn out, more direct/ aggressive language could have solved this. I also am not sold on the idea of a psychiatric ward where such shady stuff happens operating to such a capacity at a downtown location, though. But still, it was pretty good, it would hold the average person's attention I suppose.

I have to say I was EXTREMELY disappointed. I got this book for free and it was classified as a horror novel. I enjoyed the first book and went on the read the rest of the series.. that being said.. THIS IS NOT A HORROR NOVEL. It draws you in with the first novel and the second novel is pretty slow then when you get to the end it turns into a religious story AND you really don't get closure as this is just a intro to a bigger novel.... Yeah I'm disappointed and won't be reading any more of this authors work.
