Not nearly as engaging as the first in the series, and to say it's rather put me off is a true statement. Muddled, labyrinthine - not in a good way - and often a bit dull, I struggled to complete this and very nearly gave up on it. But I hate to not finish a book, so I trudged on disconsolately until the unedifying end. It wasn't dreadful, but it wasn't great either.

I've sensed racism toward Asad. And it wasn't represented well that his Danish is poor. He spoke at a C1 level, but sometimes used the wrong words (like five times). I didn't understand the criticism toward him. At least that's how it was in the Russian translation.

Could use a warning for multiple gratuitous rape scenes.
