Frenchman's Creek by Daphne du Maurier

2.0

Sadly, the most boring Daphne du Maurier book I’ve read yet :-(

This read like a straight-up romance novel. What I love about her other works is the depth and complex themes that the characters explore through romantic relationships. Although progressive in her thinking, I wish Dona had been more dimensional. I wanted more than just “sexy pirate escapism”  especially since there was so much that could’ve been said about class, motherhood and marriage.
