Final Girls by Riley Sager

5.0

Woah...

My mind is still reeling a little bit after finishing up Final Girls by Riley Sager. This one was a beast. Intense and thrilling. A little gory and completely amazing. I loved being along for the ride with Quincey as she discovers more about the evening that made her a Final Girl.

First off, I was not expecting that ending. At all. It was way beyond what I had in my mind, but it made sense in a creepy sort of way. Throughout the book I thought I had the right person pegged as the culprit and boy was I way off base.

The writing was perfect. It was intense and fast-paced and just detailed enough to gross me out and freak me out without being too much for my liking. I also really loved the ending. Seeing Quincey really embrace who she is and channeling her inner Lisa was a great ending to her story here.

Although let's be real, the journalists in the book really suck for the whole portrayal of the Final Girl as a "thing". Sometimes I think the public's fascination with these grim and traumatizing events is sickening, especially when it goes as far as it did in the book.. But who am I to judge, I'm fascinated by it too.
