I’m so bitterly disappointed! This should have been exactly my kind of story. Instead it was meandering in places then went completely off the rails in the last 100 pages and not in a fun way. I felt like there was no world building??? Who were these gods and what relevance did they have?? Why was nothing planted to see the links later and just a huge exposition dump from a villain we know nothing about and had no way to anticipate?? Why were all the sisters so flat and uninteresting?? Why did Cassius love Analeigh so much?? Why were there huge chunks of the story that felt missing?? So what actually happened to the other sisters?? What was the basis for the magic?? I read the vast majority of this in an afternoon, but I feel so sad that I should have loved this but I was saying “what the hell is happening,” out loud so many times in the last 100 pages and has totally put me off ever continuing this series.
