After the last book in this series, I was curious about these two characters. I am a lover of foreshadowing in connected series. The foreshadowing gives me something to look forward to.

Although I felt the connection with these two was a bit fast and in some places forced, it did work for the story. I would've liked to have felt their chemistry a little more, but beggars can't be choosers. I really enjoyed their journey though. I was anticipating to see how things were going to play out, especially with her family.

Overall, I enjoyed this one, as I have previous books. I am looking forward to the next book. I have a feeling that it will be a lot fun, given the characters and their hate for one another we have already seen.

I enjoyed reading this, for the most part. There was an an angst to it, especially early on, that I quite liked. The chemistry between Kerrigan and Pierce started out really strong and I was enjoying the dynamic between them. However, I felt like the relationship fizzled out the more the book went on. I found both characters a bit bland and as a whole their romance didn’t quite work for me.

I also thought that the big twist was a little forced –
Spoilersecret baby
twists don’t usually bother me but it felt very unnecessary in the context of this book. I also thought it could have been handled better – it felt like an afterthought.

There were some good and interesting plot ideas in this one, but I think they all got lost a little bit. Whilst the writing was quite strong I thought the book as a whole felt quite bland, and the final conflict wasn’t seeded well enough through the rest of the book for me to care about its resolution.

Overall it wasn’t a bad book, but it was just firmly okay for me. I didn’t hate it, but I certainly didn’t love it either.

Content Notes: Hate-to-love, bargains/deals/wagers, forced proximity, millionaire/billionaire.

Warnings:
SpoilerDeath of a grandparent, death of a close friend, grief, references to past stalking (side character), murder, gun violence (in past), miscarriage (in past), fire.

Other:
SpoilerOn-page sex, divorce (in past), infidelity / cheating (not between MCs, in past), OM drama
SpoilerFMC dates OM whilst they’re separated;she kisses the OM a couple of times and the OM later calls himself her boyfriend and the MMC is jealous.
, surprise baby
SpoilerThe MMC and his ex-wife (deceased) were having a baby via a surrogate. The baby is born during the book and is a plot twist; the FMC doesn’t know about the baby’s existence for a lot of the book.

This is the book I would talk about all day every day. Ker and Pierce were made for each other. They are the destined couple. The way Pierce was a hard ass but still so soft was so wholesome. The funniest part was when Pierce brought up him thinking that Ker was Gabriel’s side piece. It made me crack up so much. I loved how Pierce realised how in love he was with Ker and immediately choose to move to Calamity ~major swoon~. Elias was an added sweet bonus. I would love love love re-reading this for the ends of time.

This was pretty good! I liked the slow development of their relationship, but how there was also an instant attraction and chemistry there. This was just a pure vibe read for me.

It always happens to me when reading a book by Willa Nash (Devney Perry), I never want it to end. Her stories are so heartwarming and her characters so fascinating. Small town stories are her forte and in Calamity town, Montana, she has created another fantastic world of friends and family. We already know Lucy, the country singer star and her husband Sheriff Duke, Everly and her painter husband Hux, and now it’s Kerrigan’s turn. All the previous stories have been wonderful so I had high expectations and the author delivered!

Kerrigan comes from a family of car dealers. Her grandfather started it, her father improved on it, and since she graduated from college with a business degree, she’s expected to join the family business. But what she wants is to run a business of owning properties, flipping them and renting them. Gabriel Barlowe, billionaire extraordinaire, believed in her, motivated her to work on her dreams and lent her money to help. When he dies, his grandson didn’t follow on his footsteps but demanded payment within one month or lose properties.

I loved that first encounter between them. Pierce Sullivan was stoic and Kerrigan was fiery. In spite of his poker face, he was struck dumb by her beauty and completely captivated with her perfect mouth. It was the source of all his dreams and fantasies for days after. Kerrigan didn’t give up, but mounted warfare through phone calls, emails, and when he came back to Calamity on an postmortem bequeath from his grandfather, she continued with the campaign, until she wore him out.

Both characters had forces that pushed them forward. Kerrigan wanted to prove herself and she was driven to succeed, in spite of the lack of support from her family, especially her big brother. I hated how much scorn he lashed at her, and how her parents behaved like they didn’t believe in her potential. Only her younger sister Larke was supportive.

Pierce used to love his grandfather very much, but recent events made him very angry and bitter at the old man. They parted with angry words and next thing he knew, his grandfather died in a plane crash so he got no closure. Pierce was like a fortress, all hard walls hiding the man underneath. As he’s revealed, piece by piece, we all find a man with a big heart, a man who proved himself over and over, but is living with a huge vat of bitterness and guilt. I loved how he initially resisted Kerrigan’s charms, then decided on a little fling, but then feelings developed between them and the distance hurt them so hard.

The author includes a plot twist that turns the story into another dimension and then handles it so that our hearts break and mend. I loved these two characters, their hearts and their personalities. I found that Kerrigan was too tolerant of her family’s scorn for her business, calling it her “little” gym or her “little” blog. It made me furious! And yet she perseveres and was so graceful in her kindness. I loved Pierce and his integrity, hurt for his bittersweet memories of his beloved grandpa and the rift that could never be solved. This author is incredible at bringing out feelings and making us delight in the characters and town life, gossipy warts and all!

Now I can’t wait for the next book that I’m sure will include Nellie, Pierce’s assistant, and Cal, Pierce’s best friend and retired professional quarterback. It promises to be another blockbuster!
