This book was enjoyable, but not great. I liked the story, but even though there is A LOT happening, the way Hoffman writes, you feel like you are waiting for the real story to start, and then... it's over! I have read one other book by her, and felt the same way.She uses some beautiful imagery, and definitely has a way with words, but there's just something missing.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a page turner! The story was very realistic in the sense that a child is traumatized by certain things. One of the reviewers stated that they cried during the last chapter. I didn't feel that way as the story was leading up to the last chapter and one could have predicted the ending or I'm also just an ice queen myself!
