I will admit I'm judging this purely on reading the manga and trying to forget the anime. I do think it is an amazing manga. However, it does get hindered by the fact I can't hear the music. But even so, the art is brilliant, and it has to get you invested with why he can't play and why she is so set on him playing.

4.3 out of 5, once you've know the ending you can see the hints you missed the first time.

First review:
How cute the first volume was! I liked Kaori and Kousei. I wish their relationship developed. I also liked their friendship and the music! Anime was better as it is more colorful and I can actually hear the classic music))
Final review of the series:
4.45 stars

Oh my God... This manga was a big feels trip. It was all about friendship, love for music, love for mother, love for each other, all kinds of loves. Determination and your goals in life, living to the bits..everything was beautiful and symbolic.
I loved Kaori, Kousei, Tsubaki, Watari, Emi, Takeshi..and others. I loved how interesting their characters are.
I loved sweet love between Kaori and Kousei. Sweet love of Tsubaki. I loved the meaning of "love " here.
I didn't liked art style but that is okay)
And the ending!
Spoiler The last performance of Kousei to say goodbye to Kaori was preicious! The letter Kaori wrote... I wish Kaori didn't die. . I hope Kousei will be okay)

Overall, I am happy to read it :)

I am ready to go all-in with a new sweet-hearted manga romance, and this one looks to deliver in spades.
My only real complaint has to do with the final act, when
SpoilerKaori finds Kosei hiding out and cries big fat tears about how she feels like she's about to crumble. I have no doubt that her backstory will prove to be interesting and drive the series in interesting directions, but where the first volume is concerned, that scene played contrary to a lot of what the reader is shown and told about her. Yes, that may be the point, that we never know a person's inner struggles, but searching for piano accompaniment is not the most believable circumstance for her meltdown given her (talented, passionate) background with music and its positive effects.

I watched this anime a year ago and I absolutely fell in love with it. It is one of my favorite animes so when I was able to pick up a copy at the store I was ecstatic. This manga is exactly like the anime so if you love the anime you will be happy with the manga as well. I love the artstyle in the manga and I can't wait to read more volumes of this manga!
