One of the rare times when a sequel is better than the original. Solid read with well developed characters, an interesting world, and believably high stakes.
First read it as a new release, picked it up again on a whim. Biggest downfall is it doesn't make me believe in the stakes-- I just didn't care if they saved the empire or not. But the characters belief in the empire was convincing and I cared about them enough to keep me interested in seeing how things turned out.
Recommended for fans of milfic and space opera.
