Took a while to get going but this turned out to be really funny and sweet. Definitely glad I stuck with it!

After a series of unsuccessful matches from dating apps, Cara is finally told that they are no more matches for her.
She's upset because she has her cousin's wedding coming up where her ex-boyfriend will be attending. She needs someone.
Cara then has a chance encounter with Joe Mills, who's charismatic, kind and also in need of a plus one for events.
So, she proposes a plan for them to be each other's platonic plus ones for the summer.

This was such a cute listen! Like I really enjoy how their relationship built from friends to boyfriend/girlfriend however I wish there were more time spent on them dating.
It kind of felt a little rushed at times.
SpoilerLike I wish there was more in

MacIntosh did
Spoiler the breakup thing 2/3 into the books, breaking them up right after they got together. Which I personally hate but it what is it is.

You definitely have to suspend belief a few times in this book but it's overall a good romcom and I liked that Millsy wasn't a jerk and was really sweet.
It's a good romcom!

If you are wanting a book full of turns and unpredictability then this is not the book for you. This is a predictable read which does not mean it is not good, it was an enjoyable to listen to and I love the way Portia writes. This is the second book I have listened of hers (on audible) and again I found myself laughing out loud. Good and simple story!

Romance is not my thing, cheesy unoriginal romance is even more not my thing. I made it through the whole story though. It was a super easy listen. Narrator does a good job. I very much disliked the negative body image commentary for the women. The tropes were the usual ones. I’ve learned my lesson…no more romance!
