Liked this book, but it took forever to get to the point.

There was nothing really wrong with this book, and the audio was very well read. But the main characters - twins, are being set up for a great deal of conflict, and the resentment they are building seems a little whiney and self-indulgent. That said, it is a childrens book, so maybe that will appeal to the target teen audience. I just couldn't bring myself to care much about the two protagonists enough to want to read more in the series.

That said, lots of action, good for boys. Lots of car chases and battles with magical creatures.

Very good indeed! YA, but I liked it and didn't feel it was a 'kid's only' story. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

3-4 stars. TBD. Review in Progress. I'm 98% sure I read this whole series somewhere around 2010. Back in the good old days when I could scale a tree with books and snacks under my arm and read a whole series in a day if I so chose.

1) the Meme States

2) Carter and Sadie Kane // (RIORDAN READ THIS TOO?????)

3) Mythologies in combination (and LEY LINES!)

4) Cool ideas (hard stop.)

WIDL
1) what's with the repeating phrases? "

2) Mary Sue Duo. gahhhhhHHHHHH. JOSH? Are you a football star OR a nerd? You can't be both.

3) Bad Decisions with zero justification. "I could awaken her but it might kill her...so let's do it then!!"

4) "disorientating"

This was so fun and chaotic right from the start! I didn't love the almost excessive use of full names at the start, but it slowed down somewhere. I can't wait to read the next book!

This was a rollercoaster of what I thought of it. First is was cool, then it became "uuuh the teenagers are special and have to save the world", when I got over that it got a bit more exciting, the end I rushed through, couldn't stop reading. And the Author's note scored a star. Everything is based on existing mythology, places AND people. Except the twins. The real story of Nicholas Flamel is very interesting!
