I kept tossing and turning between a 2-star rating and a 3-star rating. Ultimately, I settled for a 3-star rating because I did actually enjoy this book and what I learned from it.
It took me a while to get through because I really only wanted to read it when I had the time to sit down and properly absorb the information. This book was bursting with statistics, quotes, anecdotes, and facts.
Often it felt like an effort to get through so many statistics that weren't really of interest to me as I wanted to know more about the effects that the plague had on the people and not so much all the figures about it.
It would have been nice if the illustrations were dispersed through the book where they were relevant instead of being clumped together in two parts.
I learned a few things, though, and have greater knowledge of the plague in London now and that's all I really asked for from this book.
