This is the first Quantum Leap book Iāve read. Itās not particularly well-written; at times itās actually sort of hard to follow. Iām not sure that Rawn really does a very good job capturing the charactersā voices either. That said, overall I enjoyed reading this. Itās fun reading a QL book at all, and the beginning chapters do a great job of mimicking the format of the television show, including the cold open and voiceover narration. Itās cool that Alia, the āEvil Leaperā, is in this book. And I donāt know if itās canon but in the latter parts of the book thereās a lot of stuff about the āfutureā (1999), including a lot from Samās wife Donnaās POV. I loved reading that stuff, as well as the technical stuff about how Leaping works, with the host inhabiting a hologram of Samās body in the future, which mirrors his actual body which is encased in a hologram of the hostās body in the past. Itās super intriguing to think about. Apparently Sam can cut his own hair, but because he canāt actually see himself he sort of butchers it. When he does this, the image of āhimā in the waiting room changes to have a haircut, too.
Anyway, this isnāt the height of literature by any means, but for a Quantum Leap fan itās fun. It made me want to go back and watch some of the episodes referenced (āDeliver Us From Evilā, āThe Leap Backā). Theyāre so good. If nothing else the book reminds me how much I like the show.

I liked the show, I honestly only read this because i found it in a dollar bin and wondered what she was so busy with she couldn't finish the Ambrai series.Ā
