In which Kelsier decks gods not once, but three times.
It's refreshing to see the last parts of THoA in Kelsier's perspective. It gave the dark (although epic) build-up to Ruin's end a more humorous note. I'm even more pumped to read the rest of the books in the Cosmere collection now.

Wow. Normally I heavily hate reincarnation tropes, but I think Sanderson is on the way to doing it really, really well.

This little adventure with Kelsier was incredibly fun, and im glad we his story isn’t over.

The ending chapters where we saw Vin and Elend after their deaths was so heartwarming and brought me to tears once again.

Kel’s interactions with Preservation and Ruin were awesome as usual. Had good laughs as he tricks the Ire as well.

Some amazing Cosmere info was dropped in this novella, and I cannot wait to see what else Sanderson has in store.

Definitely not for anyone who hasn't read essentially all of the Mistborn series (Wax & Wayne included) up to this point. It's really nice to spend a good deal of time in the Cognitive Realm again after not seeing it for so long; my last visit in the Cosmere was the Stormlight Archive. This short novella is extremely fun to read, especially viewing the big events of the original Mistborn trilogy through a different lens and seeing that certain things may've not been cause by who we originally assumed. Overall I highly recommend this to anyone who really enjoys the Mistborn world, but although on Goodreads they put this after the original trilogy I'd argue this shouldn't be read until after Bands of Mourning.

For anyone thinking: "Is there enough cosmere in this one to warrant the outrageous price?"

Yes.

For anyone thinking: "Is it worth reading if I don't care about the cosmere at all and just like Mistborn?"

Yes.

This novella is fantastic. Other reviews can take care of the spoilers, but I thoroughly enjoyed the read and the sneaky way of publishing.

One thing though: DO NOT READ BEFORE MISTBORN BOOK THREE, and preferably not before book 6.

Yes! This is what I needed. This filled the void that was left after the first book in the series. Thank you Mr Sanderson for giving us the closure some of us needed!!

As Sanderson said in the Author's note, it's certainly a little disjointed. But it fills in many "holes" (not even holes, just areas that could be expanded upon) of Era 1, while helping tease answers to questions raised in Bands of Mourning. If you like Era 1 and 2, and especially if you're interested in the Cosmere at large, it's well worth the read.
