I am thrilled that I was able to get my Michael Grant fix with this book. As I eagerly await the next installment of his Gone series, I devoured this straight-up action sci-fi. The descriptions of the nanobots and biots made me want to rent Innerspace, which is always a good thing, right? It's a sticky, gooey, freaky world down "in the meat"! This is just full-on fun in the style of Ready Player One by Ernest Cline by and Infected by Scott Sigler.

This is one wild ride. I couldn't put it down. Nanotechnology and guerrilla warfare all rode into one, with competing ideologies that invite you to debate each's merits.
I think this is an upper YA book that would appeal to sci-fi thriller loving adults. Well written, with literary references within the characters' names, which I found to be a bonus.
I liked Grant's first Gone book, but as yet haven't been able to embrace the series like many have. But I loved Bzrk.
If the thought of nanobots and DNA biots doing battle within your brain gives you the creeps,this might be your book!!

BZRK je naprosto psycho-monstrózně udělaný. Opravdu podezřívám M. Granta z pravidelného braní houbiček! V normálním stavu přece nejde vymyslet TOTO! :D
Ale .. v dokonalosti toho světa se mi poněkud ztrácely samotné charaktery postav. Pochybuju, že by se mi hluboko do masa zažraly například jejich jména.. :)

I read this novel to give myself a break from complicated type language and writing style. I was kind of disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, Michael Grant was the author that got me into reading with The Gone Series, I owe him my whole career. I also reread that series a year ago and loved it, but BZRK didn’t quite do it for me.
Characters were good, the plot is definitely interesting, but I guess I kind of outgrew the material. Maybe The Gone Series has an added nostalgia that BZRK doesn’t have.
Nevertheless, I would definitely recommend this book to any young adults who enjoy the YA genre. The descriptions are sooo good, and there’s a great diversity of characters. I might not read the next instalments, but I really thank Grant for his amazing YA writing.

I had no idea what to expect from this book and I was thrown into it with a bang and a plane crash! The book is told from multiple points of view. Sadie, the tough rich girl who doesn't care that she's rich, Noah, the romantic, Bugman, the young badboy and Vincent the weird guy who can't experience any type of pleasure. Very different characters thrown together in this thrilling ride. Slightly dystopian and science fiction rolled into one, so for fans of both these genres should definitely put this book on their 'to-read' list.
Something I really liked about this book was the way Michael Grant described parts of the body in extreme close up, it was truly amazing. In one scene, he is describing what a biot (a microscopic biological robot) can see from it's point of view to find out it is sitting on a person's eyelash!
The villains or should I say villain in this story is truly evil and grotesque to boot. Enter the Armstrong twins Charles & Benjamin who are actually conjoined twins so I guess that kind of makes them one person. They share a leg so they have three legs but the middle one doesn't actually function properly and hangs there limp most of the time, EW! Their horrible looks aren't the only disgusting thing, it's also their mad vision for the human race...
I didn't really like how this ended though. Sometimes with Audiobooks I can, without knowing, drift off. I don't know if that's what I did at the end of this book. That seems bad because then that may mean the end was boring if I drifted off. It's been about 2 weeks since I finished it and I can't seem to bring back to memory what happened in the end! I guess that may be a good thing because there's no cliff hanger for me to pine over.

I like the tech concepts, and the writing style is meta and fun, but I'm turned off by the sex-without-consent and the overall sense of trying too hard to be edgy/cool. It feels like someone else's power fantasy and I'm not into it.

Woah. This is a book that might need to be read at least twice in order to catch all the terms, people, and situations in this story that I believe is simply too complex for a teen novel. Not that a teen couldn't read it and probably understand it, but that I don't think they would find relevant to themselves and their lives.
The pseudo-science in the story is pretty awesome to read about: nano-technological warfare between two secret groups, conjoined twins who want to make the human race more like a placid, multi-bodied hive mind, and those who want humans to have the choice of unhappiness.
The individual battles are deadly and quick, and people experience them simultaneously on the level of macro (the full-size human) and the nano (the combination of a spider, scorpion, and human cells). Each altercation makes a very deep wound in the strength of one group then the other, and who will ultimately win?

A fast paced, enticing, gruesome book. I’ve fallen in love with the thriller/sci-fi genre and this book tickled me in all the right places. Michael Grant astounds me again with his writing!
