This second to last installment in the Inspector Montalbano series deviated from the general plot line and didn't seem to match the rest of the series. The story line started out normal, but quickly turned into the something completely abnormal. At the end, the author explains this was initially intended for s screenplay that got cancelled, so he incorporated it into his detective series. I wasn't a huge fan of it.

Fast, Intense, and Different, this wasn't the best, but I don't want this series to end!

Not my favorite but I loved the pace, the mystery and the action scenes! I don’t know how the series will wrap up... I am sad to have finished the penultimate novel since I’ve read the style of the final installment is quite unusual.

I’ll miss this world after Riccardino.
