I love this one.
I guess it's a tik tok book but I don't do booktok. I bought it for the cover.
But then the audio was super cheap so I listened to it and it was so good. Brooke Daniels and Lucas Webley do such a phenomenal job with this duet narration
Madison Kate is framed for a crime she doesn't commit and she blames the male main characters in this story. Reading some of the reviews, there are a lot of DNFs because she thinks they are hot and didn't take revenge on them. Well they didn't keep reading. It starts a little slow but it really picks up.
The guys are hot. I mean, they are kind of bullies but that doesn't mean they aren't objectively hot.
There's a lot of other stuff going on too...her PTSD and her mother's murder and her stalker and gangs...it seems like a lot but it all works.
It ends on a cliffie but it's a completed series.

I honestly don’t understand the hype of this book. With that being sad I will finish the series cause maybe, just MAAAYBE it gets better! Spice was on the milder side, but I can imagine it’s because this is going to be a slow buildup for the later books. It was more world building than anything.

I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this book as I tend to find 'Why Choose?' novels are a bit hit or miss. I really, really enjoyed this story though. It was incredibly well paced, and there wasn't any part where I felt like the story was losing its momentum. I liked the characters well enough, although it took me much longer than I care to admit to distinguish the three guys from one another.

I did feel that this was more like a prequel story, as there are still so many threads that need to be unravelled. I also cannot take the word 'engorged' seriously. It reminds me of that scene in '10 Things I Hate About You' and it really threw me off my game - BUT that's just personal preference.

I think it’s safe to say I’m super late to reading this series. Tate James put something in these pages and I couldn’t get enough! And that cliffhanger ending??

This is one of those books where I feel like you need to go in blind. And, although the character Madison Kate can be a little juvenile at times, there’s just something in the way James writes that kept me hooked and wanting more? This was a page-turner and I need to know what happens next!

What you can expect:
🤨Suspense
🖤a dark, bully romance
🔫Mafia/gang
❤️‍🔥Reverse Harem
🌶️Spice

There are too many triggers to mention, so please check content warnings before picking this up!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the complimentary e-arc in exchange for an honest review. All opinions in this review are my own.

Well, damn if this book isn't really impressive when it comes to making you feel what MK is feeling. I have rarely felt such justified rage in sympathy with a character as I did with MK. Maybe I was just in the right mood, or maybe Ms. James is just really good at that. Either way, I liked it.

There are a few weird details here and there that might be plot holes, or they are purposeful inconsistencies hinting at future twists. Nothing bad enough to judge by yet. Or, well, okay, one thing. You don't have a previously unplanned college up and running 11 months after a civic disturbance that led to large parts of the town burning down. That's just not possible.

I like how MK is a mix of broken and strong. She has every reason to be a puddle of despair after what she has witnessed and been through. Even so, she refuses to take the guys' shit even when it clearly hits her in her most vulnerable places. She's torn down over and over again, and she just keeps getting back to her feet regardless of how much it hurts. Even when she disassociates due to her PTSD or has a panic attack (yes, these are different things and it irritates me how often authors refer to any episodic symptoms of PTSD as "panic attacks"), she comes back swinging a few hours later.
