It was good although for some reason I didn’t like it all that much, maybe too close to politics for me. And so so so clearly written by a woman haha which was good but still funny. Definitely had me feeling angsty

i have never been so invested in a fictional election. history, huh?

...

this first time i read this book, i finished it in a couple days. this time around, it took me a couple months. that’s not because the book was any less satisfying or engaging, but i will say that reading this book during an election year was kind of painful. i just so badly want our reality to be different and predatory men held accountable for their actions instead of being rewarded for it with the most influential position of power in the entire country. but i guess that just happens in fiction, right? anyway, stan alex and henry. they’re adorable.

I fucking LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had high expectations going into this because I have heard nothing but wonderful amazing things about this book. And admittedly I haven't read a good romance in a few months, and I know how fast I devour romance books, so I was looking forward to reading this. However I didn't expect how much I would whole-heartedly fall in LOVE with Alex and Henry, and I was so caught off guard by the actual depth this novel has. It address bisexuality, racism, homophobia, privilege, and all of their places in politics in America (and England).

I found myself laughing out loud at some of the conversations, and I have to say I really appreciate that Casey McQuinston really seems to know how young adults talk these days. Every conversation didn't seem forced or researched, but real, like I could have been texting the exact same things with my friends.

I just really loved Alex, and I loved Henry, and I LOVED their love for each other. I just want to reread this over and over and it's absolutely going to be a book that I buy for my own bookshelf. 1000000 stars out of 5!!!!

Very sweet, and fun to read. Writing style was a bit dated - don’t know how to explain but it just felt very 2010s to me. Pacing also felt a bit off. But overall, great book!

What happens to them? Do they get married? I need an epilogue. The story should be only about them. And the last chapter is mostly about Alex's mother. I wanted more of them and less politics. I mnow that politics are important, but I do think there could be less of it.
