A slow burn romance with some spice at the end! What’s not to love!

Okay… so I’m struggling with how to write a review on this. Having loved and recently reread The Love Hypothesis, I was excited to read this one. However it fell flat from a critique perspective. I felt like I was rereading the same plot just spruced up a bit as TLH. The trope was the eerily similar, the characters were spitting images of Adam and Olive. Don’t get me started on the “steamy scenes…” they were not well executed and the first one was so incredibly rushed into. Despite those problems tho, I read it in a day (I’ve been sick so I had time). I can’t say I didn’t enjoy it because it was enjoyable. I found it comfy and cute to dive into Ali Hazelwood’s unique but repeated brand of romcom. I just couldn’t write a review without pointing out the obvious problematic areas.

I am obsessed with Levi. There is just something about the men ms. Hazelwood writes about that does it for me

this was so cringe with the “quirky”ness it made me want to slam my head thru a wall. jesus christ bee was absolutely annoying, i had to skim a lot of her inner monologue. esp the overwhelming obsession w marie curie like girly pls stop it was every other sentence. and the constant reminder of how small n tiny n petite bee is and levi being huge and yes she actually wrote an “alpha male”

the ending was also so rushed and chaotic like she forgot she would leave a lot of plot holes and threw them in there. the representation of womens issues is always preferred but this was done in a slightly redundant way. the increase in the spice was better. other than that i was more excited to be done reading it :/
