One of the most frustrating characters I have ever read. Maybe worth reading if you enjoy books about people who are obsessed with other people's lives but like not in a creepy way. I just found the main character insufferable.

I mostly picked this book up because of its gorgeous cover, and the synopsis felt like a cherry on top, but unfortunately, the book just doesn't live up to it. It started off quite strong and gradually felt stretched, even though it's a short read. Overall, I did enjoy the book, but it could definitely be a little more unhinged lol

This novel focuses on Alma, a writer who has become a stay-at-home wife and mother of two children. Her family lives off-grid, raising hens and sheep. While her husband works at a neighbouring college, Alma stays at home to clean and care for the children while reading novels by some of her favourite female authors. But she eventually leaves everything behind for New York, to stalk this influencer-ish person.
This book is described as funny, but I don't think it is; instead, it makes you cringe and become annoyed with the main character throughout. The book is titled Shame, and I found it fitting since I spent the final half of it yelling, "Where is the Shame?" You left your children to stalk this woman whose life is probably not as perfect as it seems.

I do not know what I thought about this. I think I enjoyed it? It was kind of strange, but in the good way. I downloaded it as an audiobook without looking at the description and for quite awhile I thought it was a memoir with the way it was written. The ending was also weird and felt kind of unfinished but I’m not sure if that’s a bad thing. Definitely a book to think about.
