Loved this book! I’m not a huge fiction reader so I asked some friends for a rec and so glad they sent this one my way. I was hooked after the first couple of chapters and really loved the cast of characters. Definitely a dark read, but so important given our current sociopolitical state.

I loved this book! It was such a riveting mystery all the way through. The small town setting added a layer of intrigue and corruption on top of having to find the serial killer.

Spice Level? 0/5 🌶️
Spooky Darkness Level? 4/5 👻
If I were to rate this on just the spooky level, it would be a 0/5. But this book is pretty dang dark and extremely detailed in the crimes that were committed.
Total Score? 3.75/5 ⭐️

A gripping, dark mystery that will keep you engaged to the very last sentence. Take care and check trigger warnings before reading.

I rather enjoy a Christ-haunted psychological terror type novel and this was very solid. Great writing, plot, setting.... Very unsettling but beautifully written!

Enjoyable little whodunnit. My first read by Cosby, and I’ll definitely be coming back for more.

A recently elected Black sheriff in a small Virginia town has to put his former FBI training to use when a teacher at the local high school is shot, and the once-beloved teacher quickly turns out to have actually been a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Reflecting on racism in the modern era in all its horror, the politics of small towns in the South, and how to keep our loved ones safe, among other topics.
