This was pretty good! Took a while to get into it but had to know what happened

I picked this up on a whim after seeing the author on a panel at a local convention where she told the story of her inspiration when writing it. Overall I really did enjoy it. I’ve seen some of the negative reviews and I have to disagree with them. The mystery was engaging and it kept me going trying to uncover the secrets of the Ruby

I'm a little disappointed that this book was so predictable but I enjoyed reading about the characters at the hotel. I hated the frustration of not knowing details of what was going on because I knew what the end game was from the very beginning. (Nobody else thought it was obvious?)

I had already guessed that everyone she was talking is dead at the very beginning, the characters are stereotyped and forgettable. I knew about the accident and the song way before it was revealed cause hello, everything basically told us it's going to be an overused cliche.

It fails to the promised chill and the feeling that horror novels are suppose to deliver.

A fantastic, creepy, swoony, mysterious, delightful book that deals with grief in an unexpected way leading to choices made in standing up for oneself and for others. A haunting story that twists and turns not wanting to let you get to the end and discover the secrets of Hotel Ruby. Suzanne Young writes books my students like, and I believe this one will be enjoyed by many of them.

Super creepy. Wasn't a huge fan, as I don't love scary books- unless it's like, sci-fi. This was really uncomfortable creepy, which isn't really my speed. Since I started it after reading a book with a very different style of writing, this just couldn't keep my attention. I skimmed the remainder after about 3 chapters.

not my cup of tea, had potential but the plot was too slow. It only got interesting after about 180 pages, not such good odds for a 250+ page book.

Read to p. 170, skimmed, read the ending.

This is okay, but I just got bored with it. It didn’t really have the creepy feel I was hoping for, and I didn’t really care about Audrey or the rest of the characters. I was a bit surprised at the ending and thought it was very unique, but unfortunately the rest of the book was just...meh.

Actually 1.5 stars.

This book was alright, I figure out what the twist was when in the fourth chapter I believe it was.
SpoilerThat everyone Audrey was talking to was a ghost

“Sometimes the beautiful memories are the saddest ones of all"

-I struggle a little with giving it 3 stars, I would like to give it 3 1/2 at least. It’s good but not great, still worth the read-

This book was so good! I’ll admit it took a lot longer to get into the book then I was expecting after reading Young’s other books. In the beginning it was kind of confusing, which I soon learned was because it’s the slow unravel till the last possible moment. However, once I got into the book(maybe half way) all bets were off, I devoured it.
The book was so beautiful, once I realized what was happening. I will admit I bawled very much, complete with the hiccups. I won’t spoil the ending but it’s so freaking beautiful I loved it. This is the kind of book you want to go back a reread to see all of the clues.

In Hotel Ruby, Audrey, her brother(Daniel), and her father are on a cross country road trip to “visit” their grandparents for the summer. They both know that after their moms death their father is most likely dropping them off to stay. However, on the way there they take a detour and stop at Hotel Ruby, intending to stay only one night. Curious things start happening, there at or may not be a boy and new friends involved. I invite you to pick up this book and enjoy your stay at Hotel Ruby.
