I feel like I have started to actually get used to Conan Doyle's writing better now. Before I couldn't really immerse myself in the stories because I just wasn't into the writing. However I am enjoying the plots and characters of the short stories, though with memoirs I seem to be strugglung less with the writing. I recommend this book though these mysteries don't seem as memorable and ingeniouse as the others collections.

A brilliant collection of stories! I'd almost forgotten how much I loved Watson, too! It was good fun sinking back into the Sherlock chronicles. It's only a pity I couldn't read The Final Problem as the OG fans did, with no spoilers. The utter shock and horror of it, enough to drive them to force Conan Doyle to bring Holmes back... It was still lovely to read of Holmes' and Watson's little holiday in Europe, even knowing how it would ultimately end. I was also entertained by the appearance of Victor, Sherlock's friend from his youth, as I realised the recent BBC show was not just *entirely* making up a character (though they are quite different people). I also find it quite amusing that Mycroft played the get-away driver. I was also brought to reflecting upon how Watson can abandon his day-job so often. It makes a lot of sense in these stories, as he has an arrangement with a neighbouring doctor, but that soon brought me to thinking that it just can't be that simple for the more recent TV Watson... In any case, another excellent anthology from Conan Doyle.
