Sometimes you just read the right book at the right time. I needed something light, funny and heartwarming. An expansive cast of characters who became a tight knit, quirky family. This was my first Amy Poeppel novel and I look forward to reading more.

Three women intersect in awkward and amusing ways because of a relationship that none of them are in and a baby to whom none of them are the mother. Lauren is a ceramic artist in need of a break when she gets one from Felicity, a reality TV star with boutique stores who approaches her about carrying her pieces. Lauren inadvertently gives Felicity some advice that affects the marriage of a Melinda who then Olivia, who works for Felicity, becomes a victim of Melinda's revenge. The Sweet Spot is the dive bar in the basement of Lauren's NYC brownstone but the place where Lauren, Melinda, and Olivia eventually arrive as they all move forward toward their own happy endings.

Great dialogue, vibrant characters to cheer for, and a twisty-turny plot that will keep you on your toes.

I picked this up expecting a lighthearted feel-good story and got so much more. What a great ride - I was quickly invested in the characters in all their flawed realness, laughed often at the situations they found themselves in, and didn’t want to put it down. The extended ‘family’ in the story that come together around a baby that needs them is the perfect example of a family that is both by blood and by choice. Loved this book- you will smile- you will laugh - you will relate!

I am a big judge-by-the-cover type of person. When a cover looks interesting, I sometimes go by that instead of going by the book's description. Grave mistake when reading this one. While it has an average of 4 starts, this one was not a favorite for me. Babies in books have become a sensitive subject now that I'm a mom, and this one was not it for me. Maybe later I might be able to reading it again, but for now... back of the shelf. This should not influence your decision of giving this book a chance. My mindset is not the same as yours and this might be the best book you read all year.

Pottery artist, budding marketing person turned nanny, and jilted wife turned principal have their lives shoved together in unexpected ways.  Story about unexpected love and expected consequences.  Sweet and fun.
