This book was one big disappointment for me , I am in love with books about Corwin , but all this stuff about Merlin is just looks like a fan fiction, but not as true novel .

The first of the series not read by the author? weird
Good series, each book was short on it's own but as a series they are well done. I enjoyed the magic system but in left confused about how the trumps compensate for time differences.

This is the final book in the Amber Chronicles. However, it feels more like reading two books, who are remarkably similar in plot. The first five books about Corwin, the latter 5 books about his son Merlin.

The first five are really good. Well written, pageturners, with interesting characters. The main characters seem 3 dimensional. And it's intruiging up to book 5.

I find the second part a lot less interesting. Merlin is a less interesting person. And somehow it feels like reading the first part all over again, with less political scheming and intrigue. And the plot is more predicatable, which makes it less of a pageturner.

Still it's pleasant enough to read.

Finished "Prince of Chaos" by Roger Zelazny. This is the last of the Amber series which ties up several of the story lines. I am amused that Frakir* is a loose end (snicker) that was left hanging (snicker), as I would like to have known more of her fate.

Merlin is a character who probably has problems sleeping at night: when you have to worry about assassins from relatives and enemies, but also the "universe?" That could leave a mark.

It was a good end to a good series. I still think the first five books (about Corwin) are better overall than the second five (about Merlin), and that the end of the series could have spread into one more book.

Finished this series and I'm looking forward to reading something else. Luckily these are quick books to read so it doesn't take too much time.

This book finished the series and I found the ending to be unsatisfactory. This book basically was composed of characters jumping between locations powered by newly found power/energy. Jump to some spot, some conflict happens, jump away, some conflict happens, jump away.

I'd just stick to the first five Amber Chronicle books, leave 6 through 10 closed.
