This was.... just okay for me? I really wish it worked better than it did, but I saw the plot twist from page 12, I didn't feel like I believed in any of these characters' relations with each other - barely any time within the narrative is spent on building that up, the world was not particularly interesting, and i liked just the overall theme in this, and its message of hope for a better world and resilience required for it.

This book is a prime example of why sometimes you just got to let the author cook. With multiple POVs, sometimes it's tricky. Right away, I was very into The First Sister's POV, but I found Lito and Hiro's to be a bit slower for me to get into. Pacing was a tad slow at the beginning for them two, in my opinion.

But when it kicked into high gear, that's when I couldn't get enough of all 3 of the POVs. The world building was fairly unique but did throw off Red Rising vibes here and there. And that's totally OK by me! I loved the tech used here with implants and different weaponry, which gave me Mass Effect vibes.

This was just a great read overall. The cultural differences and the implications of them on the different characters here are strong themes and was done well. And then, seeing how it all came together with the plot twists at the end has me looking forward to the next book.
