This book is equal parts fantasy and queer liberation. It’s about a young trans men who finds love, friends and home. Both with the people who loved him from the beginning and with those who had to learn to love him. Not because he was trans, but because relationships need care and growth to work. This is a coming of age story of multiple teens from different minorities.
They are finding and defending their homes, curing their religious trauma and learn to set boundaries.
This story is so relatable to the everyday life of queer teens and young adults, based about the feelings, everyday life and relationship of the characters.
I cannot recommend it enough!!!

This book made me feel bonkers but also made me feel seen. I absolutely love this book. The characters, the REPRESENTATION! THE NARRATORS.
This book is filled with darkness but at the same time there is constant humor and jokes, and just absolutely brilliant. I just can't. I don't know if I will be able to write a review to do this justice - but yeah. I am going out tomorrow to hopefully purchase a physical copy.

The book lost 0.25 stars, because some elements of the plot (like Emyr and Wyatt's relationship, and the addition of the changelings) felt unecessarily complicated and caused the plot feel slow-moving at times.
Spoiler
The inclusion of sexual violence against Tessa was completely unnecessary, and I am really disappointed in the author for featuring it. It didn't add to the plot in any meaningful way short of showing how evil Clarke is (which was not needed - we already knew that when she killed her brother and ate his heart). Tessa just becomes collateral damage to show how depraved someone else is, and the author deliberately chooses to never even examine the harm that it causes her. For such an otherwise progressive read, I felt a little betrayed by this careless inclusion.Graphic: Death, Dysphoria, Blood, Death of parent, Sexual violence, Violence, War, Body horror, and Animal cruelty
