This is good, but definitely a little dated at this point. I read it in anticipation of the movie coming out - and I'll be interested to see how they changed it for the theater (I have a few guesses, involving more romance with Wolf, for one). But I do like the message here.

I would truly rate this 4.5 it was good, great, amazing, maybe even re-readable but not spectacular. The ending was cut short I feel like. I need and want a follow up on Wolf, Hugh, and Jane. Another this is that if Jane has a drinking problem and went to school drunk how did no one at her school figure that out. And Betsy said it was a good school. Bet. I believe that Jane did get help but is still in the process of recovering and I truly think she always will be and if not she will be for a long time. Wolf I think came back and found the letters. I also believe that Wolf and Davey bump into each other somehow. Hugh I think has changed also. Whether he thought Davey wasn’t coming back or he found someone better is unclear but I don’t really think that he waited that whole time and didn’t cheat. The last thing is I can’t be the only one who when the back of the book said wolf thought that wolf was a human.

Tiger Eyes is a touching story about loss and the slow but important journey to recovery. Davey is a very sympathetic character who feels very real and loveable. Her reactions are genuine, and although there is some teenage drama, it's the kind that is believable and not the type that makes you roll your eyes because the kids is acting like a spoiled brat. Her pain is real, and you feel it in every decision she makes, but it isn't too heavy that the book ends up being depressing. The mood become more uplifting once she meets Wolf and his father and she is able to find joy in life again. A truly enjoyable read.
