I'm going to give it a 3.5. (Still don't know how to do a half star but I'll figure it out)

I gave it a 3.5 because I like everyone but the main character. I mean she grew on me in the end and this IS the second book out of 4 so I can't be that hard on the women.

I didn't find anything funny but I guess I'm not a right wing jack fruit who is so sheltered that a drug bust on a wedding day is considered "funny" but I'm a ridged old left hook so...

Oh did I tell u one of the characters husband's tries to kill himself? So sorry if I don't find the humor in someone's "accidental death" oh and by the way trigger warning

If you are an addict of any kind I suggest u steer clear of this book, but its kind of a guilty pleasure and I like watching the characters in my head grow up

Nobody likes chocolate that much. Its a good story but waaaaaaay overdone on the mentions of chocolate. It's their entire personality which got irritating the longer it went on.
Nevertheless, easy read!

Reading a Carole Matthews novel is like sitting down with an old friend and having a good old gossip and laughing for hours.

In The Chocolate Lovers' Diet, four female friends, each with relationship problems and a love of chocolate, regularly come together to discuss their lives at the local chocolate cafe. Only they seem very good at getting themselves involved in a little criminal activity along the way!

This book has a little of everything and is a very easy read. I shall now look for the rest of The Chocolate Lovers' Club books and devour them

I really enjoyed this book and the one before it. I loved the characters but it did make me eat more chocolate lol! I'm looking forward to the 3rd book coming out in the Autumn.

It wasn't that great. The characters were way more annoying than they were in the first book.

Well this book was a jumble of events. Some I predicted but still found a bit shocking to be in a Carole Matthews novel. This was definitely not your standard chick lit. I've knocked half a star off as Lucy pisses me off at times with choices she made and also because I feel like this book needs a trigger warning as it touches on suicide, gambling and drug addiction both leading to dramatic consequences. So a bit of a whirlwind but I couldn't put it down and read it within 3 days which is very quick for me having two young children. I'm wondering what else can the chocolate loves club get up to in the last two books!

Well the second instalment of the chocolate lovers club definitely didn’t disappoint. This book is an excellent read, with many twists along the way. The characters are all likeable and this is an easy read. Read in just one sitting, I cannot wait for the next instalment of this series, I have it reserved at the library so hopefully will be available soon.
This is a series I definitely recommend.

I decided to review both books together as I read them one after another and I also believe them to just be one continuing story. They were at best okay. I found the main character Lucy to be quite irritating. A woman who never really finds herself and relies on her happiness and success to derive from men. That being said, none of the women in this book are that inspiring. The closest would be Autumn but for most of the books she spends her time being a doormat for her drug addicted brother. Chantal decides she is not getting enough sex from her husband so of course decides to hire a gigolo. Who does this??? Nadia I find to be a strong character. She is forced to pick up and leave when her husband racks up their debt again with a gambling addiction. I won't say I completely hated the books. They were funny and entertaining and after reading the first book I did want to read more. I just think that some of the messages in the book may not be that good. I give these books 2 and half stars out of five.
