For a classic novel of sorts, this book had surprisingly intriguing writing, good characters, and an overall good story and plot, with good themes. And yes, I did read this one for school. But, still pretty good!

I read this in High School and hated it. Maybe I should try it again to see if my feelings have changed

Although the firsst section was dry and boring, the actual novel was very interesting and the some of the writing really flowed with life and emotion, and the authir did seem to have a care for Hester. I am curious to re-read it and analyse it more.
