I'm writing this detailed review part many months later in May 2022. I wish I'd written my thoughts down earlier and hope to do so going forward!
I loved this trilogy!!! Just wow
It was such an absorbing read, I don't even know when it passed from one book to the next. I had to go back and look up the names of the books later lol
There are so so many themes covered in the books. In fact, I did my Sociology of Media CIA 1 on this series.
I kinda like how Suzanne has barely try to conceal references to some things, like the modern USA. I read this book obsessively pulling an absolute real all nighter and it kinda left me feeling sick lol
President Snow and his white rose scared me quite a bit ufff
I found the whole story and world building, if that's what it is called, very fascinating!
Katniss annoyed me at times and so did Peeta and Gale.
Amazed how people can read this whole damn mind-blowing trilogy and find only the "love triangle" to crib about and comment on in the end. The layers of social commentary in this work is just... *chef's kiss*
I haven't read the rest of the dystopian works that followed and were inspired by this but if as I've heard, they just imitated the world structure and not the beautiful allegories and commentary part, I don't think it would do justice to compare them to this marvel.
