Reviews with content warning for Misogyny - To Sir Phillip, With Love

Oh, what to say about this book? First all of, Eloise is not the same character that she is in the show. She is wildly different, as the two have VERY LITTLE in common. I knew that before I started the book and was willing to accept the change in character. That is why I was open to the book at the beginning and why it was easy to read, as I just imagined someone else instead of the Eloise I love in the show.

However, that did not change the fact that this book was not pleasant. A lot of that has to do with Phillip, the love interest. He was fine during the first three chapters or so, but before the book was halfway done, I deeply disliked him, and by the time I was 2/3's done, I could not stand him.

The way he treats Eloise is horrid. The way he neglects, ignores, and treats his children is awful. The way he treated MARINA and the memory of her, even after her death, was disgusting. Phillip Crane is a selfish, arrogant, entitled man who does not truly care about his kids, viewed his deceased wife as a burden (and blames her for her mental health issues), and only wants to marry Eloise so that they can have sex and so she can take over the "burden" of raising his children. And the ENDING of the book where he finally "apologizes" for his behavior just made me even more furious, because like, it was NOT an apology. He basically tells her "No, our marriage does not have problems. Don't ever suggest our marriage is anything less than perfect because my ex-wife killed herself. That's what an imperfect marriage is. Do you care about me so little that you'd compare our marriage to what I had with her?"

And omg, I can't even, I hate this man-

The only reason I rated this book two stars instead of one was because there were small parts that were redeemable about this book, like Eloise's character for some parts, and when her brothers arrived and beat Phillip up. However, this book just wasn't for me, and that's not because Eloise was a different character. It's because it was a terrible romance.

Phillip, Sir, you're just a red flag.
It's a shame smart and outspoken Eloise got paired with such a dickish bore (or should I say boar...haa ugh)
She never struck me as a 〰 I can fix him 〰 gurl, more a "I can fix society" but here we are.
~~Two stars, because it was part of a series I want to finish, I guess.~~
