So many red flags in this book - felt sorry for Eloise. She deserves so much more.

Problematic relationships.

2.5. This took me a MONTH?! My audiobook minutes listened has been critically low compared to my norm, and it’s because I never wanted to turn this on 😭

It was just a slog. Show Eloise is so much more interesting and likable than Book Eloise. And Phillip? I hate the man. Not a fan. I’m anxious to see what Netflix does with this because Eloise deserves better. You’d also think we’d get more Pen if Eloise names her DAUGHTER after her. There was no friendship here. And why was the 2nd epilogue not about Eloise? 🙄

Also, I didn’t laugh. At all. All the other Bridgerton books have made me laugh. :(

Not my favorite Bridgerton book, but also not the worst one in my opinion! Read the 2 epilogues too, they're cute!

The way this book talks about depression and suicide is disgusting. Phillip is horrible. I cannot believe he is constantly referred to as a good man while he:

1. was incredibly neglectful and toxic to his children.
2. was CONSTANTLY talking about how his wife's depression was such a "burden on him" and "how hard is it to just be happy" and how he's "not bad in bed so how dare she just lay there and not enjoy it"
3. literally said that Marina "couldn't even kill herself properly"
4. was constantly telling Eloise to stop talking
5. literally said "will you just shut up and do something else with that mouth" when Eloise was trying to tell him about how something was wrong with how the kid's caretaker was treating the kids
6. acting like he owned Eloise

I loved this book. Phillip and Eloise were puzzle pieces for each other but I like that it took them awhile to figure that out. I love seeing the romances progress after marriage. I really enjoyed the scenes with Amanda and Oliver. “If you don’t know what you want, be patient. It will come to you.”
