I really loved this book. There are much plot holes, which is awesome. This is a pure true love story set in a dark world. I do want to point out that the author is graphic in their descriptions, but they also dedicate time to the recovery of the characters.

Pretty good but the ending dragged on a bit with two kidnapping-esque instances happening one after the other.
Before that though, I enjoyed it immensely. I like the character interactions. It's not a comedy, but there are light-hearted moments.
I knew how some things were going to turn out, but I couldn't figure out how they would explain it, so it was satisfying in the end when identities were revealed.

A little predictable, but still a good story. Felt a bit incomplete, only to find there is a sequel. Not a chiffhanger,  but it just felt a little unfinished.

Not the best book ever when it comes to writing style and the plot time jumps (feels like the author wrote some scenes before others and struggled to connect them), but I’m a sucker for the trope "grumpy all powerful character loves sunshine character who’s too good and a bit too naive for the world".

Worldbuilding is atrocious.

AMAZING- I think I have found my emotional support book! The fantasy, romance, suspense, and spice were all perfectly balanced together. The brightness of Evangeline and the contrast of dark and gloomy Declan really is perfect. Although, this book is very dark and can be quite triggering for people, so if you’re affected by the content warnings then please don’t read this book! It would be an understatement  to say that this book made me shed a tear… I sobbed BUCKETS. Everything about this book is perfect and you should 100% read it. Strangers to lovers with forced proximity… AMAZING

I'm having a hard time rating this book, but I feel like it's good for what it is - a fantasy romance

This is a plot heavy romance with decent world building, interesting conflict and a clear plot to drive the story forward. I enjoyed the world, the characters and the relationship dynamic. It's toxic and possessive of course, but I kinda love it.

I would probably call this a medium burn, and found myself really enjoying the tension and banter in the start of the book. The story works well as a stand-alone, but I will pick up the sequel to see where this goes!

I must say - I found the author overplayed the sexual abuse storyline. It's very graphic and we keep coming back to it again and again.
