So this book really gives an in-depth look into the motivations and decisions behind Maryanne. While she was not one of my favorite characters in past books, I think this one has helped me to come to peace with what kind of person she is. She faces so many trials and issues that it is easy to understand why she is not always so likeable.

This book helps us to understand more of the world that Gwen has created, broadening it in a way that it previously has not. Lots of twists and turns as is the usual in this series. All in all, another wonderful installment!

In this part of the series, you get to see Maryanne as something more than a simpering, whimpering hateful mother. Well, she's still that, and someone you love to hate for that reason. The author takes you down another road with this up-until-now minor character in the story. You learn more about what makes Maryanne tick and what made her that way. Great character development that adds to the overall plot of the series. Just when you think, you've covered all the types of situations the characters could encounter, the author throws the unexpected at you. More to empower the vampires in the the mix. Great storytelling that keeps you captivated.
