I first read Intertwined and although a sweet story, I found it lacking.
Divine was a great follow up which I enjoyed immensely. Actually I found it quite hard to put down. The story was fabulous and emotional. Unrequited love always makes for a fabulous tale, but Nichole's art of making you feel what they feel or feeling they way you want to feel, is very well done.

One thing I am also enjoying about these books is the information in the Author's note and Reading Questions at the end. It's interesting to hear from the author and get a glimpse of their thoughts.

I had all these ideas of what the end would be and they were all wrong, this is the best part of the read!
Also after reading Intertwined, I thought I knew what this whole book would be about but it took me on quite a different journey in another direction, which I found very pleasing.
I will definitely be reading the next books in the series, to see what tales are spun.

If I could, I would give it 4 3/4 stars. I'm not a fan of reading a copied famous line, so that was real disappointing and at such a pivotal moment. Sure it could have been stolen from a 2013 viewing of the movie, but it just read icky.

I wouldn't classify this book as a trashy love story, although I'm sure literary snobs would love to. It makes you think, makes you feel and keeps you in suspense, so it's definitely more than that.

I like Georgiana in the first book, that's basically the foreground of why I continued the series. Her curiosity and giggly love for mysteries was very cute.

But! but! but! these series are too white!

I was hoping Sebastian is black, you know, adding some slavery topic and REAL poverty would've been much more impactful. I'm disappointed cause the premise has a lot of potential for them to connect.

Oh man. I liked the first book. And I liked this one just as much!! Actually a little more.

I liked that characters from the previous book show up again. And there were a few twists that I didn't quite see coming. It was a little suspenseful to me. And I think the main characters in this one were a little more developed.

I really enjoyed it!! I read it in a weekend! I couldn't get enough of it! I just wanted to keep reading!

And I can keep reading!! On to the 3rd book in the series!!

Just as fun as the first book. This one follows a character that's introduced in book one and the main characters from that book make minor appearances in this one. Laugh out loud moments in both the 19th and 21st centuries.

This is the second book in the House of Oak series. It is about James' sister Georgiana Knight. Georgie loves a good mystery. So when she gets a letter in 2012 written in her handwriting professing her love to someone in 1813 she has to find out why she wrote it and for who.

Sebastian fell in love with Georgie when he was a teenager. But being the poor vicar's son nothing could ever come of it. Now years later he is an earl and is determined to find Georgie and finally be with her.

I didn't like this book as much as the first but it was still really good. The mystery of the Zeus symbol was intriguing. I love the mystery of what is going to happen that is in this series. A lot of the same questions I had in the first book were in this one as well. Are they going to find out who Zeus is? Are they going to stay together? Will they live in 2013 or 1813? Is there a way for Sebastian to leave his responsibilities? Can Georgie leave her brother in another century? And so much more.

Georgie was a pretty good character but sometimes she was a little too obsessed with solving mysteries for me. I'm not sure what it was exactly but sometimes it was just a little too much. Sebastian was great also. I didn't really have any problems with him. Sometimes it was frustrating having him not just tell Georgie his feelings and that she was misunderstanding what he was saying. But it all ended up working well in the end. They were great together as a couple and I was so excited when Georgie was starting to see Sebastian as more than just in a brotherly way. Nothing ever went past kissing and yet their relationship was still powerful. It felt bigger than all of books that I have read that rely on sex for the story.

Although the first book was my favorite I am still looking forward to the next two books. I am excited to find out how the books are going to end up!

Frustrating Start - Finished well

I liked the first book in the series better. The first 2/3 of this book were frustrating for me and felt predictable. I knew they'd end up together, but I wanted it to come sooner. Once she realized she loved him, I couldn't stop reading. Not because of mushy love scenes, but because of the mystery. It took an unpredictable turn, which I think is hard to do nowadays. Overall, a diverting read, which I did enjoy.

This was good. I didn't necessarily like the characters as well. I don't know if they were as well defined or not. And perhaps the novelty of the first novel wore off and this seemed more formulaic.
