The first book in this series is Meh but the story gets better through the books and the main character stops vomiting as much (still vomits too much!) and the repeated expressions lessen or get replaced with new ones. #clickedtheirtongues. The smut & slow burn are 10/10

I’m not usually a fantasy reader, but this was really well done. A good story is a good story, and I was hooked. I thought the prose was a bit hit or miss (when it was good it was great, when it wasn’t it wasn’t), and a bit of a slow beginning, but once it got going I couldn’t put it down. The characters were well drawn-out and memorable. I will definitely be returning for Book #2.

It just moved way too slow. I don’t want to have to slog through the first one to enjoy whatever action and plot movement everyone keeps promising to me.

The first half of this book is a VERY slow build but the last few chapters amp up the action and tension quite a bit. I have a feeling book two will be even better but after this one I am not in a rush to finish the series as the main character could be very draining.

Binge read this book with my partner, loved it!! Loved that there was so much depth to the plot and that the author didn’t shy away from dark themes.
