I had heard about the book on TT as being a fairy smut novel, but this turned out to be a great disappointment. Not only for the laxk of smut, but it was an almost copy of The beauty and the beast (but fairy edition). I’m not a huge fan of fairies so if you don’t come into it with an adoration already, save some time and pick up another book

I really enjoyed this book and couldn't put it down.  Not normally a fantasy reader but this kept me engrossed just to see what happens to Fayre and Tamblin

Alright, I’ll give it to the ACOTAR girlies and admit that this was entertaining. I mainly liked the supporting characters over the protagonist, but sometimes their voices blended together. Hopefully throughout the series as each of them develop they’ll become more fleshed out as individuals. The beginning was ROUGH in terms of writing style and dialogue (so much so I genuinely thought she was making fun of the YA fantasy genre), but the further I got the more the dialogue and pacing evened out. Liked it better than Fourth Wing though.

So I don’t know what to say. It wasn’t that bad but I don’t understand the hype. The story was good but most of it was cliche and a bit predictable. The writing was not that good either. There was a lot of repetition when it came to describing things, like I dont want to know that her bowels became watery for the 15th time!

The riddle that the FMC had to figure out was soooooo easy (and cheesy) that it was unbelievable that she wasn’t able to figure it out sooner. There was plot holes and a few things I questioned but I powered through.

Don’t really find the main character interesting shes boring and it’s droned into us in nearly every chapter that she likes to paint. I knew I didn’t like her when she had to be all “quirky” moaning that she had to wear a dress. I switched off through some of it because it was boring and was hard to make sense of a few things.

I feel like I MIGHT read the second book if I can get my hands on it as I have heard that it is better so I’m not giving up this series yet.

Overall it was a good story with a few twists and magical elements and a whimsical setting that was immersive.

This was a really wonderful read! The pacing is fast and the plot is gripping. I could hardly put it down until I'd finished. Maas has a wonderful writing style too, apart from one too many uses of "my throat closed up" and "my mouth went dry" and a couple of grammatical errors- I found it slightly more ornate than that of most other modern writers, and there's definitely a lot less swearing.

The characters are well-rounded, especially Feyre. However, there are a couple of plot inaccuracies
- for instance, the question of why Feyre couldn't see the Attor at first, despite the fact that it wasn't a member of the Spring Court.

Nonetheless, this was one of the best books I've read. I can't wait to read the rest of the series - I hope they're as good as this one!

I swore I would never read this series because it’s long and I’m normally not a big series person - but I have been proven wrong. I actually really enjoyed this book! It was unpredictable, funny, and full of adventure that reminded me of the books I grew up reading. It’s been a super long time since I’ve read a true fantasy book so it was so fun to get lost in this world. I do have some major qualms that I am hoping are addressed in the next books, however, like the underlaying hints of abuse that are kind of threaded throughout her relationships with every man she encounters? Also the lack of female friendship (other than Alis) made it lose a few points in my mind because it made the book feel so catered to the romance instead of the plot and characters. I will be reading the rest and I am excited to see what comes!!
