The world building elements were fantastic and the political elements were interestingly wielded into this story.

I cannot imagine a young middle grade reading understanding those but I suppose the child protagonist places it into a kids book category.

Well written however a little slow on pacing and insufferable adult characters. I should of gathered this would be it since La Belle Sauvage was the same pace wise.

I’m interested to see how the story continues and then watch the TV/Movie adaptations.

How is this book not more well-known or discussed?? It's got so many elements of a popular children's book! Absolutely loved Lyra's spirit and the whole magical world Pullman built for readers. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series!
