There's a lot to unpack in this book. Pace was decent but seemed as if a lot of details and events were glossed over - more telling than showing. I would have preferred this series to be a duology, but of course I'm a fan of Maria Snyder's characters and it's always fun to watch them cleverly maneuver themselves out of a sticky situation.

It is very hard for me to remain impartial when reading and reviewing this series, as Maria is one of my all-time favorite authors, and I had the amazing opportunity of working with her to design the covers for the rest of the world edition.

That being said, I absolutely loved each book and especially this last one. With the high stakes of the first two books I didn’t know how the adventure and suspense could be taken up any higher, but Maria delivered!

Shyla and Rendor face their biggest obstacles yet and with their story branching out to the rest of the world we get to explore and discover the impressive and unique settings that Maria crafted along the way. Each city held its own special gem and I loved reading about the different people and places. I was completely swept up in the story and couldn’t put it down until the very end.

Beautiful finish to this trilogy. This author has done it again.

I enjoyed this series a lot, but I found that the world building was a lot different from the other series by Snyder. I struggled to relate to Shyla a lot, and just generally felt that a slightly slower pace would have been better to let the reader acclimatize to all the new elements of the story. Having said that of the series, I definitely enjoyed this book best of the lot, there was a lot of action and hidden figures as well as new key players with unpredictable moves.

I was surprised by how many threads were wrapped up in book 2, so I had no idea what to expect in book 3. I wasn’t disappointed. This was a sweeping adventure, traveling away from Zirdai and expanding the world of Koraha by giving us a look at several other cities within the kingdom. I have no idea what Maria’s plans are, but I hope this isn’t the last we see of Shyla and her Invisible Swords.
