What a weird book. I actually got a really pretty edition from Sweetgrass and was determined to read the whole series but the whole in this book I felt like I was missing something. I kind of think that was the purpose of this first book though because we're just meeting everyone, learning about this world, and starting a mystery that's supposed to span all throughout this series. So, I really did give this one the benefit of the doubt and had high hopes for the book but for me, it just didn't get much better and I ended up DNF'ing the second book. But I'm really conflicted with this DNF so I might circle back to it eventually.

Holy. Fuck. I have only read 2 of amo’s books (this being the third) and I have fallen in love with not only her books and plots but also her writing. And this book was no different. Each chapter had me hooked and the mystery surrounding the elite kings club kept me on the edge of my seat.

I was not bored at all with this book which I can find usually in a book I could get bored with a pointless chapter but not with this book. Absolutely obsessed. And that cliffhanger... safe to say I’ll be going straight into book 2, the broken puppet

There's a lot that goes on in this and I feel like maybe the story wasn't been fully thought out while she was writing this. Anyway, still somewhat interesting enough for me to continue!

I feel a binge read of this series coming.
It's such a captivating story. Not perfect but mind-fucking delicious.

This was so bad y’all. It reads like the author of My Immortal published a book that was intended to be dark and edgy, but unintentionally reads like satire. Think AU The Covenant fanfic but as a bully romance, except there’s no intrigue or plot because everybody is too busy beating their gorilla chests about how ~*tough and mysterious*~ they are.

The protagonist’s only personality trait is that she knows how to shoot a gun, and her love interest is a boring angry dead-eyed man who thinks his dick is a whole personality. They have no chemistry and even their hatefuck dynamic is trying way too hard

So many questions so many jaw dropping surprises! My heart feels just as betrayed as Madison’s. But I’m still holding out hope that Bishop and Nate are truly in her corner looking out for her. Jumping right into the broken puppet because the need to know what happens next is so very real!!!

This book was brilliant! I am so excited to read the rest of the series, I’m so glad that all of the books are out, so I don’t need to wait.

If you haven’t started this series yet and you like dark romance you need to start now.

The story follows Madison Montgomery, the whole book is told from her perspective. She moves to a new school Riverside private school and
