Review: Glory by NoViolet Bulawayo

I don't tend to gel with the books that end up on the Booker lists, but I've added 9 of them to my reading list, with Glory being the second (after Nightcrawling). Spoiler: meh

I enjoyed this in parts, but using anthropomorphised animals as the characters didn’t really work for me over the length of the book.

I so wanted to like this fable of modern day Africa. So much so that I slogged through the first 325 pages of meandering prose that used too many words, before I stumbled on an uplifting, that made it all worthwhile.
