While on sabbatical from her self-owned company for Black Travelers (We Outchea), Skye is tracked down by her “kid” (Victoria ‘Vicky’) after the birth mother’s passing. Spending time with Vicky and her guardian (Aunt Faye) makes her realize that she’s in denial about her social needs and forces her to face her attachment issues. Knowing what to do is easy but making changes is the hard part. This was a relatable but hilarious (and unapologetically Black) book. Skye’s hysterically funny internal thoughts had no chill and easily won this book a spot in my ‘Favorites’ category.

I had a hard time getting into this - Skye is just incredibly unlikeable til well over halfway through the book. The last third or so was better, but you had to get through a lot to get there.

This book felt like home. Viva reminded me so much of my family and was so warm. This book is challenging and kind and felt good to read

I expected this to be just a cute romance novel but it's SO GOOD. And yes the romance is cute but there's like four plots interwoven here and it's beautiful

A witty, humorous and heartfelt story about a woman who finally settles down and learns to appreciate the meaning of home. I loved Vicky’s and Faye’s characters, but Skye was grating at times. She was very funny, though. The book is fast-paced and kept me hooked from chapter one.
