Things I enjoyed:
the chapters from the killer's perspective - made me want to yell at the MMC and FMC for missing the obvious but then led me to think how much would I actually know without these chapters
deep-dive into profiling and exploration of stereotypes
pacing
childhood flashbacks - i was much more invested in that storyline
police corruption because acab
I love the childhood flashbacks so much, it was the highlight of this book. The storyline of a serial killer in a small town with a teenager trying to solve the case when the police are just looking for an obvious scapegoat. I loved the intensity of those flashbacks. I also, as bad as this will sound, really enjoyed the chapters with Lily because it brought the stakes of the present-day situation to a newer height. Without it, I don't think I would have been very invested in them catching the killer.
Things I didn't enjoy:
the weird ending??
some plot holes, important things not addressed
lack of communication!
Stereotyping FMC psychologist with no social cues but able to solve murder at 14
I'll also never love books by men who going into graphic detail about brutalizing women regardless of genre, it will never sit right for me.
