ekstremno zahtevno branje - ful kratka knjigica, ampak sem zelo dolgo brala, ker sem pogosto morala večkrat prebrat isto stvar.

I'm infamously terrible at reading informative texts, and while occasionally I was even able to enjoy the writing, it's too hard for me to casually read without mental preparation.

A good introduction to what is a massive treatise on feminism. I'm glad I read this little pamphlet before embarking on the much bigger task of reading the entire text (for pleasure, I might add!). The overall tone and much of the content doesn't ring true for me. I think I'll move on to other prominent texts on women and feminism.

This is the skinny amateur version of the real stuff by Simone De Beauvoir but honestly, this snippet was enough to give me multiple revelations and breakthroughs within my own relationship with my body and my gender. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to feel more in control when navigating the patriarchal labyrinth.

Trying to will myself to read the big boy version.

These extracts from The Second Sex give the reader an introduction to the central ideas of Beauvoir's masterpiece. It is annotated very well and provides the very necessary background knowledge that her work requires. The book also contains a very brief biography of her life and work at the end. The extracts cannot serve as a summary or overview of the Second Sex as several important concepts come up in passing that is not discussed in the extracts given that requires going back to the main text.
