The art, humor, and simple story line made this one of the most enjoyable graphic novels I have experienced recently. I found myself laughing out loud as I read through this perfectly paced short story.

Short, simple, melancholy, funny, human.

And partly I think it was the right book at the right time for how I was feeling when I read it.

I'd never read any Tom Gauld before, but this slim volume reminded me (favorably) of [a:John Porcellino|318465|John Porcellino|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1259809646p2/318465.jpg]'s King Cat comics and the Glenn Ganges works of [a:Kevin Huizenga|89169|Kevin Huizenga|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1268324988p2/89169.jpg]. Gauld's work has the same minimalism and focus on the interior life and nature (although the nature in this book is lunar, not earthly). I liked the humor of our protagonist mooncop dealing with slowly dying or completely unsuited technology, but the whole thing is much more about loneliness and (relative) isolation than anything else. Even though it's 94 pages, it doesn't feel like much more than a standard comic book story length, and I was wishing for a little more.

Super cute. Love the illustration/art. Moon dust, space doggo, space doughnuts. What's not to like? Didn't give it another star because of the ending - which I thought was a bit too ordinary and unexciting.

Too short, but the atmosphere is right in my wheelhouse and I loved it. I hope to use this as inspiration in my own lego photography :)

"I'll get you a box to put your therapist in."

Such a lovely, atmospheric but also funny little story! It's about loneliness, and the feeling of pointlessness, and about the completely absurd decisions of powers that be (the cafe, the therapist) - but told in a heartwarming tone with a lot of quirky humour in it. I laughed so hard at the therapist plot line!

The art style shows the coldness and loneliness of existence, but also has an enchanting quality to it. The ending is a nice little surprise.

Definitely worth reading and I will be going back to it for its mood and the art.
