Well written, though boring at times. I felt like at least 70% of this book was about Baker's partner Jacques Abtney

I expected Josephine Baker to play a more central role in the story, but she came off more as a minor supporting character.

It was okay. I've read a lot of non-fiction but this was definitely a really boring read. I tried to finish it but it was just dragging on.

Simply fascinating. The book read a little slowly in some parts because of all the information packed in, but I gave it 5 stars because the story was so captivating. I can’t believe that all happened in real life!

I Dnf’d because I tried to get out of my comfort zone and it put me in a reading slump.

Oof, I really wanted to love this, because Josephine Baker is amazing…. This book, however, was not. I listened to the audiobook, and it was about as engaging as listening to someone read the phone book. Maybe it would have been better in print? But there were so many side stories and tangets, and it didn’t flow chronologically, I think my mind would have wandered to boredom regardless. I saw another reviewer say it was like “trying to sip from a firehouse” and I don’t think I could sum it up any better.

I wanted this to be engaging and it just wasn’t. Very overwritten, yet also dry. It’s a bummer, because Josephine Baker is rad.

The content of this book is pretty interesting, though I had hoped for more about Josephine herself. However, the audiobook really suffers from the author serving as narrator. He has a very slow deliberate way of speaking that gets, frankly, boring.
